Back, sort of

I'm going to start posting again, though probably not at the same rate I had been in March. (I really got on a roll there, huh). The medical situation is ongoing: the family member in question, my Mum, is out of immediate danger but is still in intensive care and will be for some time. My thoughts are of course with her; I just feel that writing on my blog will be a nice distraction, and I'm sure that Mum would understand.

I like to think of myself as a writer, but I could NEVER express how much I love that beautiful woman. I'm sure you all have people you feel that way about.

My genuine thanks to all those readers kind enough to leave supportive messages.

  3. There is nothing harder than seeing a beloved parent struggle with health issues. It makes us all feel so helpless; but in truth, we're not - the bonds of love we feel do as much or more to promote the healing process than anything the medical profession can do (IMHO, anyway).

All the best for you and your Mum.

  4. My grandpa died last summer and my dad when I was six so I understand how difficult these things can be. But a distraction from troubles is always a good thing ( I used drinking as a distraction but writing is a much healthier one) and whenever you are ready to write again I can't wait to read it.

  5. Thank you everyone! And a warm welcome, TFD.

I'm sorry for your losses, Nick. Losing your dad at six must be terrible.

I know that my writing isn't going to change the world, but I always think of it (and of kink generally) as a good, life-affirming thing. My parents weren't didactic in the slightest, but they each passed a guiding philosophy onto us kids that could be summarised as 'celebrate life and love, be free and do no harm'. Alongside my conduct in my private life, what I do here makes me feel like I'm living up to that in some small way.
